The Living Room Revisited
Joelle said around mid-afternoon on March 16, 2008
When you work at home, you need to keep your surroundings interesting or you go stark raving mad. I decided my living room needed some freshening up. I’ve been dying to bring that aqua color in for ages and finally I had a reason to when I found that pillow at World Market.
Those tables are just two old stools from Target (like 6 years old) that I’ve been meaning to repaint for a long time. One can of aqua spray paint and a couple $5 glass circles from Target later and voila! End tables! I put away my red velvet curtains by my desk and replaced them with these new cool aqua blue velvet ones from Target, as well. A couple months ago I put up those bookshelves ($14.99 at IKEA) and I have matching ones in the kitchen. The mirrors over the couch are from also IKEA and the rug is indoor/outdoor but surprisingly soft — also from World Market.
I love my living room.

Things look great. I’ve got some stuff that I’ve been meaning to spray paint, but I’m still a little leery to go there. That pillow is awesome.

FANCY!
from too far away from Joelle!
It looks great! And I heart your coffeetable.
As you know, when I add color I just paint the walls a color that makes your eyes bleed.

I love home “make overs”, a few new accessories and some rearranging makes the same old stuff become new again. I like the way you tied it all together with the new color. Very pretty!

nicely done! i like the aqua…
What an affordable way to decorate… and cute to boot. You go girl! It looks snazzy.
Are you more an end-table-bong-placer or a coffee-table-bong-placer?
(On the serious, your living room looks great.)
Spray paint is the shit.

Looks good! Reminds me I need to sproose up my place. It’s getting messy.

Thanks everyone!
@Deltus: huh? I stick them upside down in my plants of course.
Dude, that rug melts my heart. I would totally stuff it in my purse if I came over.

@the slackmistress: Oh, that’s my next plan. The wall behind my TV cabinet is so getting a coat of something bold. I’m considering aqua (my next door neighbor did hers aqua and it’s SO pretty).
@Ms. Pants: World Market, yo. They have it in green, too.

Hey lady, that’s one good-lookin livingroom you’ve got there.
And because I’m halfway colourblind and can’t tell from the photos, what colour is your sofa?

@Louise:
Thanks! The sofa is actually kind of a dusty green… kind of olive. It could use a good steam cleaning, so it’s probably a little lighter than it shows there. hehe!

I love the rug that you purchased at World Market!! I have been searching for one for so long and have not had any luck...I think I’ll be making a quick trip to World Market after work today!

@Christine: Hi there!
Definitely hit WM. I practically live in that store. haha!

Oooh! Love the splash of color. I am currently decorating my apartment and while it is sometimes torturous (perfectionism can be a bitch) it’s also a lot of fun to see it all come together.

Thanks! I was wondering because your chesterfield looks alot like our chesterfield. Here’s what ours is supposed to look like:

@Louise: I like yours better!
I remember when I worked from home. I would go crazy seeing the same thing all the time.
Your whole living room looks really stylish yet comfortable. I like the mirrors behind the couch. I’ve been wanting to do something like that for a while now.

I’m not surprised that the pillow was the inspiration. It’s lovely!
That rug works really well in the room, I like it’s subtel tones and not over-the-top pattern.
