Stormy Weather
Joelle said in the early morning on December 7, 2007
It’s storming. In San Diego sometimes it’s hard to tell what constitutes a storm because the news media and everyone else panic when we get a condensation two counties over and declare it StormWatch ‘07. But right now, I think it’s safe to say it’s officially storming. There’s actually a bay full of sailboats in that photo. Who knew?
While it sucks that it’s been raining and blustery on the weekends and gorgeous during the week when I’m busy, the rain is welcomed. It gives me yet another opportunity to work bundled up with my laptop and spiked coffee (quickly becoming a Moxie Girls Friday Tradition). My desktop is made of glass and as my desk is right under the window, it gets a little chilly. I suppose I could put on warmer clothes or get a blanket, but then what excuse would I have to work from the couch?
We’ve been getting more reviews on Amazon for our book! That’s been exciting. Some good, some concerned that it’s a bit fluffy for a tech book, but that’s to be expected. No hard feelings — it’s not for everyone and Blogging with Moxie is definitely meant to be a fun book for beginners and not a big meat n’ potatoes manifesto on blogging. The only thing I wish people would relax a little about is the cocktails. A couple reviews make our book sound like it’s more cocktails than tech talk. There are two cocktails for pete’s sake, along with salads, face masques, party ideas, beauty tips and pie. It’s just a champagne cocktail, y’all, we’re not saying mainline Jagermeister while you install WordPress. Though, given my recent experience with WordPress, I may consider adding that in a second edition.
Oo! Oo! We did get some nice press today, though. We were recently interviewed for an article on Healthy Travel Tips for AOL (for those who don’t know, Put Down the Donut is making it’s triumphant return January 2008). You can check it out here. We’re #10… airplane food. Sexy!
Happy Friday everyone! Stay safe. Drink some nog. Or watch someone else drink some nog because seriously, that stuff is nasty.
(If you’d like to contribute your own review of our book, we’d welcome it!)

Egg nog is one of those things that, the first person to actually drink it? I’ll bet it was a dare.
We had the storm last night. Made for an interesting late night trip to LAX, that’s for sure! Currently our skies are half angry grey and half post-rain blue.
Your book is next on my list of reads (mind you, I’m currently in the middle of three books and have a slew of gifts to wrap, package and mail). I’ll be reviewing first chance I get! Oh and um...so not a nogger!

i don’t like eggnog either… but we discovered a tasty eggnog MARTINI last year.
even i liked it! http://danielphillip.com/individual2/for_that_festive_feeling_pt_2/

Storms sound better than the current temp at 7. Did hear a mention of moxie girls on the jumpingmonkeys podcast the other day. Love the donut and can’t wait for the return.

@Kat: Thanks!
@daniel: I’m totally making one of those this weekend. It’s not so much the taste of egg nog that gets me. it’s the texture, but thinned out with vodka is an entirely different story…
@Faith: thank you so much for your great review!!!
@Steve: Thanks, Steve. We look forward to seeing you around.

I prefer to mainline tequila while I install wordpress…
Anyways, I’m waiting for my roommate to send my book up to me (I’m taking care of gramma who had a stroke right now) but I’ll post a review once I can.
And enjoy the storm - it’s minus one right now in Wisconsin. I so need to go back home to Florida. LOL
from Hell (Phoenix, really)
It even stormed in Hell (aka Phoenix) yesterday. People in Phoenix go crazy when it rains: it’s fun to watch.
RE: eggnog ..... I used to love it but even the kind with Lactaid makes me feel sick.
Happy Holidays, Joelle.

Lucky bitch. I love your desk. You have good taste.
Oh I’m gonna buy your book soon. I think a lot of times cool things are made boring with dense texts and the right people can make learning something fun. I like that you made your book fun, well it seems to be that way anyway. I don’t want to read some boring text where an author takes themselves too seriously. So I can’t wait to check it out.
If it makes you feel warmer - it’s 25°F here right now (northern NY) and I am beginning to wonder if I will ever be warm again.

@Shell: Happy Holidays, darlin’.
@moxierain: Thanks! I love my desk, too. And I look forward to your thoughts on our book. Thanks again!
@DJ: Wow. 25. I remember 25 in Dallas, so I feel for you. Stay warm!

@Zengrrl: I’m sorry to hear about your grandmother. :( I hope she’s feeling better now and is well soon. Looking forward to your thoughts on our book, as well. Thanks!
