Satan’s Chocolate

Joelle said in the late morning on July 25, 2007

It pained me to even take this photo.  But I had to bear witness to marzipan in the wild.  I’m used to spotting it only in fancy gourmet places, but to be confronted with it on my common grocery store shelf.  This is going too far!

Oh, Ritter Sport. You forsake me.

@gfi: ok, I guess technically it wasn’t a common grocery store shelf. LOL.  World Market isn’t Albertson’s. haha!

I’ve never had marzipan, but I think it looks a little too much like playdough for me to want to eat it.

Oh yeah, I should have specified. The mint Aeros. They make plain and orange too, but the mint ones are the best.

Ummmmm .. marzipan is da kine!  My little sister lives in Germany, and she knows I must have a box of the good stuff every time she comes home for a visit.  You can occasionally find the good German kind at Cost+ It’s not quite as sickly sweet as the pigs and fruits.  Still, one’s children must have a marzipan pig in their Christmas stocking every year.  Even if they are in their 30’s.  And one of those dark chocolate oranges that come wrapped in foil printed like orange peel.
