Sale, It Said!
Joelle said in the late morning on November 24, 2007
You know for being Black Friday (cue the music of doom) yesterday, it really wasn’t bad. I went to the mall (Mission Valley) in the evening and it wasn’t even crowded! It just felt like Christmas busy, but not Black Friday Busy.
And this morning, I hit a different mall (Fashion Valley, for those in the area) and I swear to you, the parking garage was half-empty. Half. Empty. I totally strolled through the mall in the beautiful Saturday San Diego sunshine without anyone beating me with their shopping bags or running me over with their kids. There were only half the snotty teenagers you’d usually find! Wonders never cease.
Ladies, if you’re into Bath and Body Works (or men, too, they have some good stuff for guys) they are having uber-sales this weekend. I had a little stockpile of this freebie coupons and $10 off coupons and even a $10 gift card I received a few weeks back for some minimum purchase, so I spent about an hour in there this morning, working out the best deals. I rang up 4 purchases separately, but managed to walk out of there with $150 worth of stuff for about $50. Oh oh! And with every purchase, I got *another* “free home fragrance item with any $10 purchase” coupon AND a $10 off any $30 purchase coupon. With each of the 4 purchases I made, they gave me a new set of coupons, so everyone including my mailman is getting Bath and Body Works this year. heh. My mailman could use a new fragrance. *sniff*
I forgot to report back, but Geggie’s bourbon pecan pie was absolutely delicious! I could probably have baked it about 3 or 4 more minutes, simply to let it set up a bit more. It kind of fell apart when we sliced into it, but the flavor was awesome. I’ll be making this one again, for sure. Thanks for the recipe, Geggie!
I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend.
Go do your holiday shopping. Seriously.

@chickrawker: haha! This is true.
is it time for Xmas Kitty to make her appearance?

So, what did you end up getting for yourself? I can buy for any female on my list there, BUT never myself! I cannot make up my mind!

I didn’t get out on Black Friday until about 10am. Between then and noon, I scored five pairs of Liz Clairborne jeans and dress pants for $42 (normal cost $350), a $30 Lane Bryant top for $4, a $70 pair of Steve Madden leopard print sandals for $10, a $36 SD memory card for my camera for $13 and 2 bottles of Tide for $4 (hey, gotta wash all the new clothes LOL).
I used to love B&B;stuff, but ever since I tried Lush’s Tramp scent, I can’t go back to anything else. My roommate loves B&B;’s Honeysuckle, though, so I suppose I’ll have to scrounge up a coupon somewhere. I’m with you - coupons make the scores even better.

@smizzo: I got some candles. I’m a sucker for Soap & Glory products (from the UK via Target) right now and I got enough to bathe an army for my birthday, so I didn’t get any bath stuff. But, I did load up on some candles. I got a Sugar & Spice big jar candle, a matching fragrance oil and a wee freebie (from my coupon) of Winterberry. HIGHLY recommend the Winterberry for anyone who may have an artificial tree and wants that “fresh tree” smell without it stinking like fake pine or Pine Sol. This is a combo of clove, hollyberries, toasted orange, vanilla and a little bit of pine. it’s JUST the right mix. Love it!
@zengrrl: You made out like a bandit! I didn’t brave the clothing stores. I just didn’t have it in me. That’s just depressing all year ‘round. haha! I’m not big on the B&B;stuff anymore, since I found Soap & Glory, but I did try their Japanese Cherry Blossom and that is *lovely*. Very light, but sexy. Good stuff.

I have to say, I’m not much of a fan of the BBW stuff, a bit too much fragrance for me.
About the pie, in the past, I’ve had it be a little too runny, too. I’ve added a tablespoon or so of flour to “tighten” it up. You can try that.
So glad that you liked it.

@Geggie: Thanks! I’ll try the flour trick next time. BBWis a bit too much fragrance for me anymore, too. I don’t know at what age I stopped wanting to smell like a pound cake, but nowadays, I just like to smell clean.
dayum, that Geggie sure does travel!! She gave me a recommendation for a kick ass Mexican restaurant in Tucson a couple weeks back and threw in some advice for a Thanksgiving salad! She rocks!!
We did the shopping thing yesterday and like you said, it was a little busy, but not Black Friday weekend crazy busy.

Braver than me… I’m “hoping” I can just take my 10% card and go get all my holiday shopping done at Target this week. If I’m lucky, things won’t be so picked over that things I’ve earmarked in my mind around the store aren’t already gone. Fingers crossed.
Not usually a BBW fan myself, but last spring, they hooked me on their ILE DE TAHITI INU body lotion with Tamanoi in flavor, Coconut Vanille. They sold out pretty fast and had discontinued the product by the time it was restocked so I bought eight - figured they would make good gifts (the ones I didn’t use myself
). Had a coupon for free body lotion in flavor, Velvet Tuberose. I was surprised to find I actually liked it. Always good when you like something you get for free!
