Cue Loverboy

Today is going to be a good day. How do I know? Well, I don’t. For all I know a total crap-bomb could fall out of my email and all over my day any second… it’s still a workday, after all. But, there are many things for which I am practically giddy today.
It’s the last day of NaBloPoMoFoKokomo! Hot damn! I blogged every single day this month, which stuns even me. I remember when I used to be really prolific with my entries… blogging sometimes two or three times a day, every day. I couldn’t wait to blog. But that was in 2003 when I actually went outside and had officemates and happy hour and dates and stuff. I won’t say it’s when I had a Life. I still have a Life. It’s just… different now.
There’s been the usual ebb and flow of blogging for almost five years, even if I did take a weensy break for a wile.
It’s easy to get out of the habit of blogging if you take time off. I can’t count the number of times I’ve started an entry and thought, “Eh… is this really worth blogging about?” NaBloPoMo was good for me. And I’ve met some great people. I made some good pie and I actually am more inspired to write more often. So, all in all, I’m glad I did it.
It’s raining! Yay, rain! We really, really needed the rain, so that’s a bonus, but best of all… it feels wintery and blustery. The perfect day to curl up on the couch with my laptop, the tree lights and a hot cuppa joe.
My new hibiscus is blooming! Ok, so this isn’t that big of a deal to some, but I’ve been having some struggles with my hibiscus lately. Their leaves started getting speckled and turning yellow, falling off and otherwise looking unsightly. One of mine actually shriveled up and was teetering on death, so I bundled up a few and my friend mikey was kind enough to take them to his mom for some TLC. She’s like the Plant Whisperer. I figured if they don’t survive now, it wasn’t meant to be.
The rest of them, I pruned and watered yesterday, did a little repotting and one of the hibbies I picked up when I went to Hidden Valley Hibiscus is opening right now. I just potted it yesterday, so I was surprised to see it open, but it’s going to be gorgeous. It’s called Love Story and someday should look like this.
Now I just want the other one I got to bud because that one is so cool. It’s called Palm Springs. </flower geek>
I’m doing mostly creative work today, which I love. I’ve been doing a lot of development lately and big projects that have taken a long time, so I’m looking forward to starting fresh designs today and delivering to my clients before the weekend. You know, so I can have one.
Speaking of the weekend, Kathy’s inspired me with her Great Peppermint Bark Experiment, so I’m going to whip out my fudge recipe this weekend. It’s basically the recipe on the back of the Marshmallow Fluff jar, but I moxify it by adding different mix-ins (cranberries, pistachios, hazelnuts, marshmallows) or extracts (almond, mint, liqueurs) or using different chips to make white chocolate fudge or peanut butter fudge or whatever. Fudge for all!
I’m doing some book stuff and Moxie stuff this weekend, which I always enjoy. I was thrilled to see our book is sold out again at one of my local Borders. They had the original three, then two, then none and then three again… and now none, so thank you, whoever bought them.
OK, it’s time for me to put the kettle on and get down to business. Happy Friday!

These are the days I wish we had fire places…

I know what you mean about it being easier to blog when you actually have to leave your house to work. I used to blog about things I’d see on my way to work or weird things that happened in the office. Now I don’t have any of that to draw from, so I feel like my entries are basically equivalent to “yay, I left the house for the first time in 3 days!”.
Also, I find it weird that LA and SD is raining and it’s not here.....although, for all I know, maybe it did earlier....I haven’t left my apartment today.

Please stop! You and Kathy are making me want to go out and eat sugary things I should not be eating!
So, how did the day turn out?
It’s raining out here in LA as well and I’m lovin’ it! And yes, perfect weather for coffee or tea (and yes, I had both in under an hour and why yes, I do feel a bit...um..amped)

So this doesn’t mean you’re bailing on us, does it?
I’m starting to get used to this stalking you every day thing. No pressure. Ha.

Hope your day turned out as well as it sounded like it would! You mentioning peppermint bark makes me want to start my holiday goodie making early. One problem though, if I make it this early I’ll eat it all! Oh, but I did have a comment about The Fluff. It has to be The Fluff. No Jet-Puffed or store brand will do! And hazelnuts, really? I’ve never had hazelnut fudge, I may have to try that. Have a good weekend

Just wanted to stop by and leave you a congrats on finishing NaBloPoMo - a good blogger friend of mine did the same - I don’t know how you both did it!?! I have to be like, SO inspired to write something or it just comes out all icky!
Hey, glad to here you guys got some rain, I know you needed it. Tomorrow in Philly....it’s SNOW time! And I’m like a silly kid all over again - I’m such a freaky Winter person - I don’t know HOW I lived in Florida for 18 years.
Tomorrow, I’ve got the whole day off...and I’m doing exactly what you did today....VEG!
It’s great to hear the book’s selling out...I told you, you’ve got a hit...yabba, dabba, doo! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Joelle.
