A Brand New Bag

  • August 29th, 2008

A totally awesome gift!I got the sweetest gift from one of my clients yesterday in the mail.  Gena of Make Some Lemonade asked me a few weeks ago what my favorite colors were, but then I kind of forgot about it.  Well, lo and behold, the postman delivered a box to me last night and inside was this adorable bag!  Gena made it herself and let me tell you… it’s really well constructed.  You know how you go see homemade bags at craft booths or whatever and they always feel a little chintzy and well… homemade?  This feels like something I might buy in a boutique.  If she hasn’t thought about setting up a store on Etsy, she really should because this bag is fabulous.

A totally awesome gift! It will be really great to use when going shopping or to the beach or the zoo… whenever I need to carry more than my usual amount of stuff.  And the bright colors and mixed patterns are so fun.  Really good choices!  The inside is totally different, too… aqua and green patterned.  Love, love. It’s even got pockets inside for smaller items.

It makes me feel so good to know that a client loved their website enough to create something uniquely for me in return.  It’s things like this that remind me why I love my job so much and why I enjoy putting the little extra details on designs for my clients.  They deserve a beautiful website, but it’s always wonderful to be appreciated.  Thank you, Gena!

That is so cute and very sweet of her. Makes me wish I was crafty.

SO CUTE!!  And I can totally appreciate how much it means to you.  I don’t know if people realize how much work is required to make a living as a self-employed creative professional.  I hope it’s not presumptuous, but I am pretty sure you’ll agree that there are many other things we could be doing that would be far easier and lucrative, but it is THIS that brings us back to the WHY WE DO IT.  Right?  Yay you, that is teh awesome.

@chepooka:  No, exactly. I know you get it. smile Thanks!

To be creative day after day after day on command (and often with very similar motifs) it can be really challenging.  It’s not all “do whatever you want, you’re the boss”.  In fact, most of it isn’t.

Sure, we could be working for the Man, getting benefits and leaving our job at the office at 5pm every day.  But then we wouldn’t have the opportunity to do what we’re passionate about and provide our clients with designs to support what *they’re* passionate about.  And something tells me in an office Casual Fridays don’t include my robot pajama pants.  cheese

thanks beautiful.  I am sure glad you love it.  Keep on rocking and rolling.  You are amazing at what you do.  The man would be lucky to have you but I am glad he doesn’t.  Thanks again.

Next Stop: Oprah! Moxie Client on Dr. Phil!

We were super excited earlier this month when our client, Patricia of MotherinLawHell.com, told us that she was going to be on Dr. Phil’s show.  Woo!  That’s amazing to start.  But when we found out her website was going to be displayed on Dr. Phil’s “big screen” we were even more excited. National television? Syndicated even? Yes, please.

Last Friday the episode aired and I made sure to record it for posterity. Full disclosure: I don’t watch Dr. Phil often (ok, ever), but I was more than happy to watch it that day! And according to Patricia, the Dr. Phil staff “LOVE the design!” and think “it’s so FUN!”.  Yay! We’re thrilled to hear that since we pride ourselves on bold and happy designs. We do fun. Come and knock on our door, Dr. Phil’s staff. Anytime! smile

Yelp Goodness

Island Style Cafe (4/5) on Yelp

I had breakfast here with Lyn P., who recommended it and really, really enjoyed it. The place is really unassuming and since I rarely venture into Tierrasanta, I'd never have known it was there…
