If a client is at all surprised by the bill they get, then the designer wasn’t doing their job. With each communication, like you said, the client should have an idea about how it will affect the bottom line.

I totally agree that he should have updated her along the while. While it sucks to have to be all “this is out-of-scope” and “that will cost additional” – it is much easier to hash that shit out beforehand so everyone is on the same page.

My best friend is getting married and hired a freelance designer to make her wedding invitations and what not. Apparently the designer forgot to take Freelancing 101. She couldn’t quote my friend a price initially, even though she was asked, so my friend assumed it was a project pricing kind of deal. Well now that she’s been sent an initial bill, turns out the designer charges hourly and never told her client that! Bad designer!

No, seriously though. I watched Clean House: Ugliest House in America (that couple where the guy had been a volunteer fireman with a zillion hobbies and was always bringing home stuff, they couldn’t use their living room and they had a closet full of animal poop?). I almost barfed, and proptly turned into an organizing/cleaning Nazi. (Not that I was ever that bad, but I definitely had some clutter going on). Things can be learned from TV!

I felt SO bad for Jenni and I was really glad that Bravo edited Jeff telling her about Chris in a really respectable way. We saw her crying and melting completely, but they didn’t play any audio from it. Just let her have that to herself. She is totally my favorite on the show.

NO DOUBT! You don’t get bushes, babe. You got rid of your rats. That’s all you get. I loved the moment where the lady realizes she’s not getting the bushes and she turns to Jenni for support and makes the twirly motion with her hand, saying something about the bushes. And Jenni just says, “I don’t know what you mean”. LOL
