From Blogging to Britney to Bananas

  • December 20th, 2007

Our interview with the Derek & Romaine Show last night went well, we think!  Romaine was out, but we were interviewed by Derek and guest host, the delightful Hedda Lettuce.  We had a fabulous time and even sound like we know what we’re talking about — aside from my “y’knows” which is a terrible habit I’m trying to break. And a spot where they ask us a direct question about a stocking giveaway and because we couldn’t hear, we just sat there, like deer caught in the On-Air light.  tongue wink

They were very gracious, said our names, the name of the book and our URL a lot, so we couldn’t ask for more. Thanks for having us, Derek & Romaine Show!  We look forward to visiting again soon.

If you’d like to hear our interview, including the part where Kathy sort of insults Pamela Anderson, check it out.

Also, just an aside, I was listening to the Holiday Lounge station on Yahoo! and Louis Prima’s “Shake Hands with Santa Claus” came on. I started to sing along but was forced to contemplate the lyrics when I was hit with this gem:

“If you want bananas, great big bananas, shake hands with Santa Claus.”

ohh I don’t know about you, but I think I’ll get mine at the Farmer’s Market.

You guys did such a great job! Awesome thinking on your feet, which is not always easy to do.  I love that Kathy was afraid to say “ass” at first – very cute.

@Amy: haha!  Yes, we weren’t sure how relaxed to be and while we know you can swear on Satellite Radio, we just weren’t sure… thanks!  grin

I was actually going to say something far worse than ass.. hence the pause.  Haha!

Great job!! I was hoping you’d provide a link for those of us that don’t subscribe to Sirius.

BTW – Great big bananas for shaking hands with Santa Claus? Yikes. big surprise

Great interview!  Although I will admit I didn’t make it through the entire thing. Made me think about why I post.  Initially it was a way for me to meet my goal of journaling every day and write down (to remember) things the boys are doing for their baby books.  I’ve been pleasantly surprised, however, to make some new friends from people I’ve never met before – an unexpected perk that definitely appeals to the social side of me!

@lani: Thanks!  it’s ok, it’s really long! I’ve met so many people through blogging… pretty much the majority of the people in my life right now are here due to blogging.  smile It’s the cat’s ass.

@Reeder:  I’m not sure, I didn’t notice. smile Thanks.

@lasvegasles: thank you!

Next Stop: Oprah! Moxie Client on Dr. Phil!

We were super excited earlier this month when our client, Patricia of MotherinLawHell.com, told us that she was going to be on Dr. Phil’s show.  Woo!  That’s amazing to start.  But when we found out her website was going to be displayed on Dr. Phil’s “big screen” we were even more excited. National television? Syndicated even? Yes, please.

Last Friday the episode aired and I made sure to record it for posterity. Full disclosure: I don’t watch Dr. Phil often (ok, ever), but I was more than happy to watch it that day! And according to Patricia, the Dr. Phil staff “LOVE the design!” and think “it’s so FUN!”.  Yay! We’re thrilled to hear that since we pride ourselves on bold and happy designs. We do fun. Come and knock on our door, Dr. Phil’s staff. Anytime! smile

Yelp Goodness

Island Style Cafe (4/5) on Yelp

I had breakfast here with Lyn P., who recommended it and really, really enjoyed it. The place is really unassuming and since I rarely venture into Tierrasanta, I'd never have known it was there…
