Sometimes, WordPress Makes Me Curse…

  • November 18th, 2007

…and that’s why I needed this book!  Lisa Sabin-Wilson, one of our trusted colleagues and friends has written the book on WordPress, literally.

WordPress for Dummies is my new bible.  It sits on my desk within easy reach because I think I’ve referenced it about 30 times since I received my copy.  It’s pretty common knowledge that we’re not primarily WordPress designers, we’re Expression Engine girls. And while we have a working knowledge of WP and use it on occasion, Kathy and I both are really intrigued to learn more.  Lisa, on the other hand, is quite the WP guru, so I’m thrilled to have her in a book to break things down for me when I get stuck.  Or, she can respond to my harried instant messages with “Look on page 327” or whatever.  And she has, which made me laugh out loud.  haha!

It also warmed the cockles of my heart to see that Lisa featured Moxie Design Studios in her book under her recommended blog designers (page 236, I believe), as well as a very gracious and sweet dedication. Thank you, Lisa!  cheese  I hope you go to SXSW so that we can take another pickle picture!

For everyone who’s wanted to use WordPress, but felt intimidated by the template tags or if you just want to learn more, pick up WordPress for Dummies!  Heck, why don’t you pick up our book, The IT Girl’s to Blogging with Moxie, too while you’re at it.  Think of the Super Saver Shipping

C’mon, did you think I was going to let an opportunity for a shameless plug slip by?  Pleasewink

I’ve always wondered what the cockles of the heart really are.

It is my pleasure to warm your cockles…whatever they are! smile Thank you so much for the mention, Joelle – - I’m so glad to hear you’re finding it helpful!

I actually have, in my posession, a pic of myself with The IT Girl’s Guide to Blogging with Moxie – - my husband took it for me.  Now I just have to edit it beyond an inch of it’s life so I feel comfortable posting it to your Flickr group! Ha!

In March.. it’s you, me and Kathy on a pickle mission.. even if we have to buy a jar of dills at the grocery.. we’re getting a damn pickle picture! smile

Next Stop: Oprah! Moxie Client on Dr. Phil!

We were super excited earlier this month when our client, Patricia of MotherinLawHell.com, told us that she was going to be on Dr. Phil’s show.  Woo!  That’s amazing to start.  But when we found out her website was going to be displayed on Dr. Phil’s “big screen” we were even more excited. National television? Syndicated even? Yes, please.

Last Friday the episode aired and I made sure to record it for posterity. Full disclosure: I don’t watch Dr. Phil often (ok, ever), but I was more than happy to watch it that day! And according to Patricia, the Dr. Phil staff “LOVE the design!” and think “it’s so FUN!”.  Yay! We’re thrilled to hear that since we pride ourselves on bold and happy designs. We do fun. Come and knock on our door, Dr. Phil’s staff. Anytime! smile

Yelp Goodness

Island Style Cafe (4/5) on Yelp

I had breakfast here with Lyn P., who recommended it and really, really enjoyed it. The place is really unassuming and since I rarely venture into Tierrasanta, I'd never have known it was there…
