I can’t believe for the last decade I’ve been telling myself I’m not good enough to do that, but truth be told, I think I am or at least… I could be with a little practice. I’m not comparing myself by any stretch, but I can sing and I’m tired of saying I can sing and not actually singing. It’s more about me being afraid of making a fool of myself, but seriously… who cares anymore? I’ve just seen a twelve year old girl tear it up. I am duly shamed.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to Google vocal coaches.

Yeah – she can certainly hit the right notes but it’s missing something. I’d be intrigued to hear her in 10 years.
But right now I want to hear you Joelle! I say give the singing a go. I’ve been in the local Vancouver music industry (including jazz) for a very long time now and I’ve seen a lot of players come and go. but it never fails to be amazing when people just give it their all. Sometimes they fail, sometimes they skyrocket – but really – it’s only the journey that matters.
I know it’s an overused saying, but follow your bliss honey.
What are you talking about? I’ve heard you sing. You’re freaking awesome! I think you could release an album. I’d get it. And I wouldn’t even pirate it!

I’ve been singing for a long time; I’m a karaoke queen and had one regular “non-karaoke” gig at a piano bar in my early twenties, but I’ve just never had the confidence to take it another step further. Karaoke is fun, but they never want to hear what I want to sing (standards) and it’s getting harder and harder to endure bad renditions of Patsy Cline’s “Crazy” just so I can sing a song or two. I kept yappin’ about it, so maybe I’ll finally put together that CD I’ve been meaning to do forever.

Tore it up she did! She is amazing. I love seeing children of that age do something other than unintelligible rap. I have not heard you sing before, but from the comments I have seen in the past I bet your amazing. Don’t give up
GO FOR IT! I would love to hear you! And, like everyone, I say you should follow your heart. What’s the worst that can happen? You don’t become the next multi-platinum selling artist? No worse off than you are right now…and then you will have at least tried.

I actually heard you sing twice! In Austin, and up in Frisco years ago…when you were there with Alison (wow, I actually remembered that…I’m not as old as I feel! lol).
I say pick yourself up a good USB condenser mic (you can get one for about $99), get some Audio software (if you have Nero 7, you’ll already have both wave edit for recording and sound trax for mixing) and go for it!
Oh, and how funny…my captcha is Saw…and I was just watching that! lol
