Cover Girls

New Cover!Kathy and I got the new cover to our book this morning!  Hooray!  The new cover hasn’t quite made it to Amazon yet, but it’ll be there soon.

Our old cover, as excited as we were about the book, didn’t exactly jive with our voice or the series, so Katie, our in-the-know and ever-patient editor, decided to scrap it and start again.  She was kind enough to let us in on the review panel and even let us whip up a few mock-ups. Our literal design didn’t make the cut (they have their own talented in-house art department), but some of our ideas did, so we’re very happy!

Compared to the new cover, this one looks a lot more hip and a little less “teen” because we definitely didn’t want anyone to think this was a book for teenagers.  It’s got cocktails in it, for pete’s sake, and we all know teenagers drink Boone’s Farm. (I’m totally dating myself with that, aren’t I?) wink The colors are a lot less retina-searing, we totally changed the font and illustration and this time, they were kind enough to give the girl a head.

I could make a crass joke here, but I’ll refrain.

If you are running BlogAds and would be interested in offering up ad space for us or trading ad space, we’d welcome it!  If you’re so inclined, please drop me a note!

Anyway, this is our new cover!  If you haven’t pre-ordered your copy of The IT Girl’s Guide to Blogging with Moxie, we hope you will.  grin

  1. Sweet! I’m still considered a teenager? Totally awesome!

This is the second thing I’ve read knocking Boone’s Farm today.  I still enjoy the occasional bottle o’ Boone’s.  I’d probably enjoy it more often if they hadn’t discontinued my favorite flavor.  It’s bubbly, it’s sweet, it’s something other than beer, and two bottles at $2.99 each is enough to get me pretty toasted.

    WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT?

    (ps: LOVE the new cover!)

  2. @Deltus: a little bit. It’s not a Moxie Girl-branded book, so we couldn’t get too carried away.  We’re saving that for our own series.  wink hehe. But yes, I agree it’s much more in line with our voice and the content.

@amyt: I haven’t had Boone’s in years.  I remember liking it ok, but it’s just too sweet for me now. I got all old and snobby.  cheese

  3. LOVE the new cover. i’m getting really excited here as well. can’t wait for it to get here… oh and also, i will probably meet Y while we’re in LA in november and she mentioned that she wrote a little bit in the book so if i already have it at the time i may just have it signed by her, too. wohooo. [/geekalarm] smile

  4. What a difference! This cover is more sassy, sophisticated, somewhat sexy…that dame looks like she’s got moxie while she’s sitting out in the city, drinking her low-fat latte spiked with hooch, blogging away on her lap top..love it. I wish I had her legs.

May they fly off the shelves! Whoo!

  5. @kim: Thanks, Kim! Actually, Y didn’t write in the book, she was our technical editor and we also feature her blog. smile But you’re welcome to have her sign it! hehe.

    @gfi: thanks, lady. smile

  6. That’s a sexier cover, I’d buy that more if I saw it at the bookstore. The other one reminded me of this book the Gurl.com network came out with back in the 90s/early ‘00s.

  7. Oooh – love the new cover!  I’ll be pre-ordering next week when I finally have a permanent address again… grin

  8. Yay! I was a Strawbery Hills girl myself back in the day smile I *love* the new cover and it’s good for both IT Girls and IT Guys!
