I’d Like to Thank the Academy…
- March 5th, 2006
…for Jennifer Garner’s post-pregnancy breasts. Wow. She looked lovely, of course. She’s just the cutest damn thing and her little “tumble” was even adorable.
I kind of think the Oscars as a whole left something to be desired. I loved John Stewart, even though this wasn’t his best work I’ve ever seen. I still think he’s hot on toast, so I’ll let it slide. He pushed the envelope… a lot, so I’ve got to admire that. As Heika said on the phone, ”George Clooney is a pimp!” and I have to agree. He’s just… I don’t know if I want to tear his clothes off or have the kind of bonding session that involves Cuervo and tossing peanuts in the air. He’s just cool like that.
You know who looked just painfully gorgeous? Like, so beautiful I actually exclaimed “WOW!”? Three people: Felicity Huffman, Salma Hayak and Michelle Williams… all for different reasons. Firstly, I just love Felicity Huffman. I admire her as an actress and she just has something very familiar and likeable about her. And her dress was gorgeous. Salma Hayak? Pa-DOW! And that blue! And her hair! And holy guacamole! O-freakin’-LE! And Michelle Williams was just rich with colors. I loved her vintage-style dress in such a bold and unexpected color, her deep lips… the whole package. Fabulous.
As far as the winners… well, honestly, I can’t really remark on that. I didn’t get a chance to see any of the major nominated movies this year, so I can’t really comment on the performances or films themselves. But, while I was disappointed that Felicity Huffman didn’t win, I thought Reese Witherspoon‘s speech was very sweet and heartfelt. It was nice to see. And Philip Seymour Hoffman, who’s so talented… I was happy for him, too.
They’re announcing the Best Picture right now… the Oscar goes to Crash.
Ok, I lied. I saw that one.
You know, every year I watch the Oscars and every year I wish that they would give more time to the other people on stage to speak. I always feel bad when the first guy to the mic blabs on for a full minute and all the other person wants to do is thank his wife or whatever and they bring up the music. Sucks. Oh, there goes the music…. speak of the devil.
