Waving the White Flag
- December 8th, 2004
I give. Uncle. Christ on a popsicle, I surrender already!!
I ran out for a quick lunchtime pedicure (god forbid I do something for myself) and on my way back, as I was talking to mike on the phone, my gas light came on. So, I thought to myself, I better go get gas. No sooner did I think that than mid-sentence, while going through an intersection, I run out of gas. Right there. Out of gas. Hello! Warning, maybe? How nice that the gas light came on a mere 60 seconds before I ran out of gas.
But, it could have been worse. The nice old men in the security volunteer patrol could have chosen to not watch my car. And Ali could have not been home, a few blocks away, to pick me up and take me to the gas station. And that nice lady who bought me a gallon of gas just so I wouldn’t have to run my debit card could have chosen not to do so. And that check from yesterday could have not arrived or could still be sitting uncashed and I wouldn’t have had any cash with which to pay for my pedicure or put gas in my car eventually.
And then Ali might not be on her way over with a peppermint latte to cheer me up. And of course, I do have pretty pink sparkly toes.
So, yeah, it could have been worse.
