How Does My Garden Grow
- December 28th, 2004
I don’t know what the heck happened to my Rock the Walk email, but I got an influx of it yesterday, only to find out that Megan, my contact at AIDS Walk (and someone I like!) is no longer with AIDS Walk and has gone to take a job elsewhere. I was bummed to hear that, but Megan, if you’re reading this, keep in touch! We’re trying to do Rock the Walk twice in 2005 (don’t worry, I’m not going to badger everyone with pledge requests this year)—one in the spring for the mellower, acoustic, VH-1ers (read: me) and one in the fall like 2004’s—a more “rock” event (read: Ali). We’ll see how it goes, I guess. We’re shooting for bands with big draws so we can land a bigger venue, possibly all-ages, we don’t know yet. If we could get Reeve Oliver to play, I’d be happy. They’re great guys, so maybe we can sweet talk them. And, of course, Velvet Tongue. We still want all proceeds to go to AIDS Walk, so I think we’re going to meet with them to iron out the details.
In other news, I received a lovely Christmas amaryllis from dr. suzie in the mail yesterday from Smith & Hawken. I got down and dirty this morning, planting the bulb. My green thumb is more of a black, really. Here’s to hoping it sprouts something that lives longer than a day.
