Drop Down and Get Your Gobble On
- November 25th, 2004
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! It’s strange, being an adult and especially in the last few years, Thanksgiving doesn’t have the same feel for me that it used to as a child. I remember waking up on Thanksgiving to the sounds of people talking over coffee, the Parade sounds in the background, the smells of cinnamon rolls or pies coming from the kitchen.
This morning, I woke up to complete silence, other than his breathing. It was comforting in it’s own right. Now I’m in front of the computer, but I’m going to go brew a pot of coffee and curl up on the couch to watch the last 2 hours of The Bachelor. After that, I’m taking my non-burned Amaretto Pumpkin Pie to Ali’s mom’s timeshare on the beach for Thanksgiving with my created family. And I am thankful for all of it.
And, since I’m being thankful, I’m thankful for a lot of things this year…
(yeah, this is the part where you click the thing and read a lot more, you know, if you have time to kill)

Thank you for being who you are and for loving me as I’ve needed to be loved my entire life. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and I am lucky to have you in my life. I love you. Leave me and I’ll stalk you like celery. Just kidding. *cue Sheriff*
Kathy
You are the low carb, fat-free vanilla non-dairy creamer in my coffee. Without you, there would be no Moxie and I wouldn’t get up every morning at 6am excited to turn on my computer and listen to that damn Yahoo screaming lady. I am grateful for you every moment of every day, but especially during Drink n’ Dial. I love you, ho.
Moxie
Julie, Mel, Christina – I couldn’t want for a better group of broads to work with. You are all beautiful and talented—simiarly and in your own rights. I am thankful to be able to work with such a group of hilarious, brilliant, sharp, kind women who really care about the clients, about each other and about Moxie as a whole. Thank you for all that you do. And for making me laugh until I nearly pee in my office chair.
Deltus and Yoshi —You boys put up with a lot from 5 freaking out girls with javascript errors and PMS. For that you deserve lifetime achievement awards. Or at the very least, a thank you. You are two of the most patient people I know. Thank you for being there.
Our clients—I couldn’t ask for better clients, seriously. Patient, understanding, enthusiastic, friendly… what more could we ask for? I am grateful to be able to work with and for such wonderful people.

What can I say about you that hasn’t been said over the last 6 or so years? Except that I adore you. I think you’re brilliant and beautiful and have the kindest heart of any person I’ve ever met in my whole life. You are an amazing woman and I miss you all the way over there in Texas. Thank you for putting up with my shit and for giving me shit to put up with. Here’s to thunderstorms and personal bottles of Pinot Grigio. I love you, cookiepuss.
Ali
You are my homeslice. You are my best friend and my best pain in the ass. And you are my family. Thank you for being there for the last almost-nine years. I love you like a fat kid loves a cupcake. And trust me, I used to eat a lot of cupcakes.
I could be here all day listing people and things I’m grateful for. I am thankful for my health, my wonderful friends, my apartment with the $50 electric bill. I’m thankful that I can even pay the bills every month and that I am lucky enough to have such great opportunities. I am thankful for recent developments in my life, like the appearance of my half-brother, Mike. (No, my boyfriend is not my brother. Yeah, I look oh-so-Filipino, no?). I am thankful for the opportunity to get to know him after 31 years. And he’s probably reading this so hi Mike!
And I’m very, very thankful for everyone who reads this blog and for blogging in general. Without it, I wouldn’t have most of what I’m lucky enough to have in my life. Thank you, everyone, for reading, for emailing, for the wonderful generosity of all of you! I appreciate you so much.
Ok, I need coffee. Happy Turkey Day everyone! Now go get stuffed. *wink* I plan to.
