Never before has a weekend off been more relished. That is, when I got over my inital guilt and anxiety and got stinkin’ drunk. Ok, I wasn’t that drunk, but I’ve had such a great weekend. Yesterday morning, we went out for lunch, walked around UTC a little, then we went to see Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Then, I came home and, admittedly, did a teeny tiny weensy bit of work, but I swear it wasn’t more than like 30 minutes. Then, I took a nap. A nap! It was glorious.
Mike came over again later and we walked down to Buster Daly’s for the Velvet Tongue show. Lyn was there, too, looking fabulous, of course. Ali was such a rock star last night. I called her Allison, Bass Warrior because she was so like, tough-looking while she played. It was cute. But the set was awesome. I drank a few Absolut Mandarin and tonics… ok, maybe more than a few. But they were in those tiny little glasses! And they were so fruity and delicious… but that bartender showed no mercy. I shall now and forever call him Heavy-Pour Pete. Fortunately, we walked to the bar. Mind you, this wasn’t anything close to high-heeled-horse-bruise drunk. Nothing can come close to that, really. This was your normal “I had a some drinks, lets walk to the store and get Bagel Bites of which I will eat one and fall asleep” kind of drunk.
This morning was spent lolling around in bed. I slept till 10am. TEN! That’s just unheard of for me. It was hoobity central and then off to enjoy some errands and breakfast and general running around. I’m drawing up a contract I need for tomorrow morning, but after that, it’s nap time and bad Lifetime movies all afternoon for this girl.
I’d forgotten how wonderful a weekend can be and how refreshed I feel. I’m really ready to kick ass and take names this week, figuratively speaking, of course.
a few things that made me happy this weekend:
- getting to hear Velvet Tongue play
- seeing Lyn
- getting to talk to this chick on im for a while
- spending much-needed time with him
- right now
I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. Enjoy a lazy Sunday—it’s on me.
