Some people have asked both on mikey’s blog and here how we got together.  We briefly discussed it over lunch and decided to share.  It’s really not all that fascinating (to me, it is, but you know how that goes)….

I started blogging January 22, 2003.  My friend Sarah had/has a blog and she got me blogging.  I’d always had a website and journalled old school, since 1996… then Livejournal (*cough*), but this whole “blog” deal was new.  Sarah knew sphinxy and mikey (among others) through blogging.  They visited my blog.  Through daily comments, I knew him better.  Then we started chatting on IM and trading emails.  Then we started talking on the phone a couple times a month… all just as friends.  He thought I was a lesbian for the longest time.  I like girls, too, but I’m not punching my orientation ticket just yet.  Somewhere around this time, I’d decided I was moving back to San Diego.  Anyway, so a couple times a month of chit-chat turned into once a week of chit chat, all as friends.

Ok, so last May (2003), mikey and I were talking a couple times a week by then and he went to Long Beach to see wendy, fran, eve… that whole group.  Cheyenne was there, too, among other people.  They brought pictures of me to their meet-up, so I could “be there with them”.  They called me and the phone got passed around and I talked to just about everyone… except mikey.

The next morning, while waiting for Cheyenne in Starbucks, he called me.  Then I went to Vegas, where I called him from a nickel slot and won $400.  When I got home, we started talking almost every night, which led to every single night for about 5 months.  Then I moved back to San Diego and we eventually fell in love.
